Just arrived in harvest gold coachwork with chrome wire wheels a 1972 MGB GT tax exempt restored at a cost of £9000 a few years ago, first owned by a Doctor has you can see from the picture on the right the doctors name was Dr jessop and if you look at sales invoice closely you can see her name, and has only one other owner since, with a full history from new original sales invoice and service book, fantastic history, and rare to find, last owner paid £6500 in 2003 and he upgraded the dashboard to the walnut finish,always been garaged drives very well, the underneath is like new new mot and tax march 2009 p/x possible please tel 01923 840236. So, at the 1962 London Motor Show, MG wheeled out their new car to considerable praise - and as they had with the MGA before it, the company made sure that marketing and sales emphasis was placed firmly on the US market. The UK press lauded the car; Motor magazine, for instance, commented that the MGB was a "delightful modern sports car with a marked bias towards the 'grand touring' character … a pleasure to drive." In those days, car magazines tended to be a little more circumspect in their language than they are today, but reading between the lines, it would appear that the road testers saw it more as an inexpensive GT roadster than an out-and-out sports car.
Today the MG badge is owned by The Rover Group and appears on sport versions of Rover saloons as well as the popular MGF two-seater model. Tastes and ideas may have changed in the modern world of car production, and indeed with the buying public, but no MG of today or of tomorrow will ever earn the loyal and avid following as that enjoyed by those older and more authentic cars.
